Christus Koningkerk
The Christus Koningkerk serves as the parish church for the village of Sleihage, part of the West Flanders municipality of Hooglede.
The church was designed by A. Desmedt and developed by Jan van Coillie and D. Deleu. Its futuristic appearance is marked by modern materials like stainless steel and concrete. The structure features a multi-faceted concrete skeleton topped with a roof of stainless steel plates, and a central dome is crowned by an open tower structure displaying the emblem of the Sacramentine Fathers. The interior, painted black, is illuminated by a ring of triangular windows. Although the church was intended to be enclosed by a U-shaped monastery complex, only one wing was built, which now serves as the parish house.
The church is open to visitors daily and hosts exhibitions by Luc Lapere. Click here to read more.
