Transfo

Transfo is a former power station in Zwevegem and, like the nearby Bossuit-Kortrijk canal, it is a product of the 19th century industrial revolution. The Transfo site was protected as a sight in 2000. As a result, the chimneys, water tower, boiler house, generator building and fuel oil tanks were preserved. The bases of the cooling towers are also still present. The machine room contains a unique collection of protected turbines and a steam car.

In 2004, the municipality of Zwevegem decided to purchase it together with the intermunicipal Leiedal and to give it a new socio-cultural destination. The transformer building can be used for cultural purposes like exhibitions and performances. The site also houses adventure activities, a diving tank and a summer bar.
