Spikkerelle

The Spikkerelle community centre in Avelgem, designed by Dierendonckblancke Architecten, presents a distinctive architectural vision marked by paradox and contrast. Its core elements - multi-purpose hall, foyer and theatre - are ingeniously stacked vertically to form a compact yet imposing structure that rises to a height of more than 11 metres.

Wrapped in white corrugated metal panels, Spikkerelle stands in bold contrast to its surroundings. Situated at the junction of the village and the protected nature reserve of The Meersen, it is a striking presence in the landscape.
