Tour & Taxis

In the heart of Brussels lies Tour & Taxis, a historic site turned modern hotspot. Initially, it was pastureland for post-coach horses in the 18th century until it was bought by the Von Thurn und Taxis family, pioneers of the European postal system. In the 19th century, as industrialization surged, Brussels annexed the Thurn & Taxis port area, and the Belgian State Railways, under King Leopold II, initiated a major project that included building a loading dock, a branch of railway line 28, a freight station, and the impressive Royal Warehouse, designed by Ernest Van Humbeeck. The site flourished, employing thousands until its closure in 1994.

Today, after significant redevelopment, Tour & Taxis has transformed into a vibrant hub for events, art fairs, and cultural festivals. It features new offices, a park, and even a street food market! The renovated buildings and park beautifully fuse old and new, making it a must-visit destination in Brussels.
