't Blikveld
Upon accident we stumbled onto this community and cultural centre designed by architect Werner E. De Bondt in Bonheiden. De Bondt is most famously known for being the architect of Belgium's most famous concert hall Ancienne Belgique in Brussels. As theater seems to be his field of interest, it's no wonder he wanted to do something extra special for GC 't Blikveld which was built in 1997. According to an article in Belgian newspaper 'De Morgen' from 1998, De Bondt was inspired by English architecture, most specifically Glyndebourne Festival Hall, which is also covered in lead. De Bondt designed GC 't Blikveld with spectacles in mind. The inside hall for concerts and theater is connected to the outside where you'll find an open air amphitheater.
Nowadays, the building is notoriously known for the outside lead plates melting because of the higher temperatures we're getting in recent years.
