LAAC
The Lieu d'Art et Action Contemporaine (LAAC) in Dunkirk is a contemporary art museum in northern France. It was set up in the 1970s by Gilbert Delaine, an engineer and art lover. The museum has a collection of over 1,500 artworks created between 1945 and 1980. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs by renowned artists such as Pierre Soulages, Hans Hartung, Niki de Saint Phalle, and Victor Vasarely.
Designed by architect Jean Willerval, the museum’s distinctive white ceramic-clad building is complemented by a sculpture garden, offering visitors an immersive artistic experience. The LAAC is a key cultural site in Dunkirk, showcasing the vibrancy of post-war contemporary art.
