The Kiss

Wim Delvoye (°1965) is a Belgian neo-conceptual artist known for his inventive and often shocking projects.
The small city of Wervik in West-Flanders is his place of birth. For the millennium celebration in 2000, he gifted an interesting bronze sculpture called 'The Kiss' to the city. Since much of Delvoye's work focuses on the body, this one is no exception. The piece on 'Steenakkerplein' represents a couple of deer making love like humans. It stirred up a little bit of controversy with some of the inhabitants of Wervik, but 22 years later, it's still there.
