The James Ensor House

The James Ensor House is where the famous artist James Ensor worked and lived from 1917 until his death. Ensor inherited the property from his uncle Leopold Haegheman and his aunt Pauline Dewinter, who ran a seashell and souvenir shop. Ensor closed the shop but left it intact in memory of his deceased relatives.

The Ensor House has been preserved in its original state and can be visited, along with an interactive visitor centre next door. Bring Ensor's paintings to life, admire his interior decoration and carnival masks, browse through his letters and photographs and then take a look at his authentic home and studio.

The house is located on the Vlaanderenstraat in Ostend and is well worth a visit.
