MusVerre

MusVerre - an impressive museum dedicated to the art of glass - is located in Sars-Poteries, in the heart of the Avesnois bocage. This place isn't chosen randomly since this area in the north of France has a long history of glass making.

The building - inside and outside - is worth the trip itself. A jewel in blue stone offering 1.000m2 of exhibition space. The building by W-Architectures opened in 2016 and is divided into five "squared volumes", from one to two levels, which fit into the natural slope of the land. The museum reveals a prestigious contemporary collection of glass works by artists from all over the world. It also presents many "bousillés", objects full of fantasy and colors created by the glassmakers of Sars -Poteries between 1801 and 1937. The museum vibrates to the rhythm of temporary exhibitions and numerous events and creative workshops.

If you're in the north of France we highly recommend a visit to this beautifully constructed building with a unique shape. We recommend you combine it with a visit to the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis.
