Tegelreliëf
In Mien Ruys Park in Bergeijk, adjacent to the iconic De Ploeg building designed by Gerrit Rietveld, lies an impressive tile relief by Dutch artist Ad Dekkers. Originally created in 1971 for a school in Gouda, the artwork was reconstructed and installed in Bergeijk in 2019. Measuring approximately 23 by 14 meters, it comprises stacked white paving tiles arranged in a geometric pattern that evokes swaying reeds or gentle waves. The interplay of light and shadow across the relief enhances its dynamic visual effect.
The relief complements the geometric landscape design of Mien Ruys and resonates with the aesthetics of the De Stijl movement, aligning with the architectural heritage of the De Ploeg site. The artwork was unveiled by Princess Beatrix in 2019 and is recognized as one of the "100 key works in Dutch public space".
