Helsh(ea)ven

At the highest point in Helshoven, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Haspengouw landscape from the "floating chapel". Artist Frits Jeuris designed a unique creation made of dozens of felled fruit trees from the area. At the end of 2016, the trees fell prey to the Little Cherry Virus, an infectious plant disease that causes too small fruit. The trees got a second life as an artwork. “Helsh(ea)ven” is made of more than 90 fifty year old cherry trees. The work symbolizes the dynamic landscape of Haspengouw.

You can find the lookout point near the Helshoven Chapel. The artwork is in the public space, so it can be seen for free.
