Liebaert Projects

Liebaert Projects is a foundation for Contemporary Visual Art in Kortrijk and at the same time it's an 'Open Monuments Association'. This combination grew out of the fact that they purchased a decaying old industrial building (a former flax weaving mill) on the Liebaertlaan with the intention of converting it into an art space. The property is an ideal place to display contemporary visual art and to have projects realized in situ by emerging artists. The degree of decay of the building compelled Liebaert Projects to have it classified as a monument in order to be able to pay for the basic renovation works.

The hall itself is a great open space that already houses some (big) permanent pieces. The smaller front building contains rooms for projections, performances and exhibitions. The basement floor offers another big exhibition space that is perfectly suited for video art.

If you want to visit Liebaert Projects, keep an eye on their agenda. They regularly host exhibitions. Admission is free, but they're not always open.
